You can make the holidays this year a little merrier and brighter for men and women with serious mental illness who often do not have family or friends to share the spirit of the holidays with them.
Our Gifts of Joy drive funds gifts for our Orlando Dave’s House residents and Aspire Health’s transitional housing residents.
Your donation of just $25 creates a Gift of Joy for a resident.
These men and women continue their journeys to living in recovery with their serious mental illness with the support of Aspire Health Partners Kate’s Place Clubhouse day programs in College Park. Each weekday, residents have opportunities for work, wellness programs and socialization. They also enjoy a warm lunch prepared by fellow residents (soon to be incorporating fresh herbs and vegetables from the new on-site gardens recently installed by Dave’s House Community Partner Mader Southeast Construction).
Residents learn the daily life skills necessary to live independently, with ongoing behavioral healthcare support by Aspire Health Partners. They have progressed from homelessness or sub-standard housing to transitional and permanent supportive housing.
On December 3, they will celebrate the holidays together at an outdoor lunch, on the garden grounds and the new deck (also donated by the amazing Mader Southeast team). This will give them ample social distancing space for pandemic safety protocols.
The resident chefs will get to enjoy the spirit of the season, too – Dubsdread Catering is donating the party’s feast for nearly 100 residents.
With your gift, you can be the somebody who cares for a man or woman with serious mental illness. You can let them know they are in the hearts and minds of caring people in our community who are cheering their efforts to improve their lives.
Please donate today, and let these residents know they are not alone.
You have our gratitude for remembering these inspiring individuals during the holiday season.
We so appreciate you Being Somebody’s Someone.
